Skilled Trades and Mechanic Jobs in Ontario

Licensed mechanics, CNC machinists and millwork trades. These are the highest-paid roles on our board and the hardest for our clients to fill, so a qualified application gets looked at quickly. Every opening below is live, with the pay range on it. You can also browse all jobs in Ontario.

The trades we are filling

  • Licensed trailer mechanics, 310J and 310TTrailer and truck and coach repair. Apprentices considered alongside licensed technicians.
  • TSSA-certified mechanic techniciansWork on equipment that falls under Technical Standards and Safety Authority certification.
  • CNC machinistsFive-axis work in wood and architectural millwork, not metal. Programming as well as operating.
  • Cabinet makers and assemblersBench and shop millwork, from cutting and edging through to final assembly.

About the 310 certificates

The 310 series are Ontario Certificates of Qualification issued through Skilled Trades Ontario. 310J is the truck trailer service technician trade and 310T is truck and coach technician. Postings that name them mean them: these are compulsory trades and the client will ask to see the certificate.

If you are partway through an apprenticeship, say so rather than skipping the posting. The trailer mechanic roles above are open to apprentices as well as licensed technicians, and our clients are short enough on these trades to take someone who is on the way.

Pay on the openings above

Skilled trades roles currently on our board pay $20 to $36 per hour, which is the widest band of anything we fill. Licensed 310J and 310T mechanics sit at the top at $30 to $36. TSSA-certified technicians are close behind. Cabinet assembly starts lower because it is the entry point into the millwork shops. Each posting carries its own range, and Ontario requires that range to be public, so what you see is what the role pays.

Why these roles are worth applying for even if you are not a perfect match

Skilled trades are where our clients have the least choice. A general labour posting might draw dozens of applications; a 310J posting often draws a handful. If you hold a related ticket, or you are mid-apprenticeship, or you have run comparable equipment under a different job title, it is worth putting the application in and being specific about what you have actually done. We would rather have the conversation than miss you.

Never overstate a certificate you do not hold. These trades get verified, and it ends the placement.

Where we are hiring

The skilled trades roles on our board right now are Ontario-wide, with the shops concentrated in the Greater Toronto Area and the Waterloo Region millwork and manufacturing belt. The posting will confirm the site before anything is booked.

New roles come in weekly and the list above updates itself, so it is worth checking back or setting up job alerts.
